The Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit gives each believer a gift(s) that can be used to encourage and serve the Body of Christ. There are numerous references throughout the Bible (I Corinthians 12, Romans 12, etc.) that list and explain these gifts. Some of these gifts are listed below with a brief description to help you get started in identifying your gifts.
Administration God-given ability to organize people and processes so that the functions of the church can run smoothly and effectively. Discernment God-given ability to identify right and wrong in situations, character, and relationships. Encouragement God-given ability to affirm and reassure believers who may be discouraged or uncertain. Evangelism God-given ability to communicate the Gospel to those who have not heard it before. Faith God-given ability to believe that God will accomplish His will, even when it seems unlikely. Giving God-given ability to generously and cheerfully give money or other resources to Kingdom work. Helps and Service God-given ability to offer time and skills to the church in service. Hospitality God-given ability to provide food, lodging, and friendship to those who may need it. Knowledge and Wisdom God-given ability to learn information about God and His Word and apply it to life effectively. Leadership God-given ability to give a vision to a group of people and motivate them to accomplish a task. Mercy God-given ability to empathize and care for those who are suffering. Prophecy God-given ability to proclaim God’s truth clearly for the building up of His people.
Shepherding God-given ability to care for a local group of believers. Teaching God-given ability to communicate the truths of God’s Word clearly and effectively to different groups of people.
