WHAT IS Providence Institute?

As Dutch theologian Herman Bavinck wrote, “God is known in proportion to the extent that he is loved.”  (Might consider this Bavinck quote in the banner and then the definition that you put there move here to begin this section - the “Providence Institute provides a learning-oriented discipleship …" ). Our desire is not merely to accumulate information about God, but to know God more deeply through his Word, which reveals to us the work and person of Jesus Christ. True knowledge of God necessarily produces love for God and love for others.

Through structured classes in Bible, theology, spiritual formation, and Christian living, Providence Institute seeks to help believers follow Christ with greater conviction (knowing the gospel and biblical truth), character (loving God and being shaped by the gospel), and competence (living faithfully and helping others follow Jesus).

Classes are organized across several core tracks, including:
Christian Discipleship (CD)Biblical Studies (BS)History & Theology (HT)Christian Roles (CR)Engaging the World (EW)

Our prayer is that Providence Institute would help equip the saints for the work of ministry and further establish Providence Church as a people joyfully following Christ together.

This course provide you an overview of the historical books of the Old Testament, tracing the key events, people, and covenant movements. You will follow Israel’s history, and see God’s character revealed — alongside the persistent reality of human sin. You will see how God’s promises are introduced and preserved through His covenant dealings, pointing to the need for a coming Savior King, and equipping you to better understand your place in God’s story and respond with growing trust and obedience.

OLD TESTAMENT OVERVIEW PART 2

Part two of this course explores the poetry, wisdom literature, and prophetic books of the Old Testament, highlighting themes of wisdom, worship, judgment, and redemption. You will encounter God’s covenant love, justice, and promises of a coming Messiah, deepening your love for God and your longing for Christ. Building on the historical foundation of Part I, this course equips you to grow in wisdom, remain steadfast through life’s trials, and live faithfully before God as you await the fulfillment of His promises.

Participants will be encouraged to live with clarity and confidence as they await the full realization and consummation of God’s promises.

SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINES

As students engage practices such as hearing God’s voice in his Word, having his ear in prayer, and belonging to his body in the church, they will see how God meets and shapes his people through these ordinary means. Emphasis is placed on cultivating a deeper relationship with God that flows from his grace, helping participants develop rhythms that foster communion with him and lead to faithful, joyful obedience in everyday life.
